Clark ranked among top 50 counties for number of firms

Clark County ranked No. 26 out of the top 50 counties for the number of businesses it had in 2003, a federal study reported today.

The Census Bureau reported that Clark County had 34,233 business establishments in 2003 and 700,032 employees as of March 12, 2003, while Los Angeles County in California had the most establishments with 235,085 and 3.8 million employees.

Clark County ranked No. 45 out of 50 counties for its average per-employee payroll of $32,009 in 2003. New York County in New York had the highest average per-employee payroll at $73,032 and Riverside County in California had the lowest at $28,809.
