Guinn announces new appointments

CARSON CITY -- Gov. Kenny Guinn Thursday announced the appointment of 17 Clark County residents, including two of his former office staff, to various state boards and commission.
The governor named his former chief of staff Marybel Batjer to the Colorado River Commission succeeding Roland Westergard of Carson City.
Batjer resigned her chief of staff position to work for California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger when he was elected. She is now working for Harrah's in Las Vegas.
Also named was Brian Catlett, former chief of constituent services for the governor's office, to the National & Community Service Commission.
Those named from Las Vegas, unless otherwise specified, were:
Michael Cheshire to Board of Equalization; Maurice Silva to Parole Board; Stephanne Zimmerman of Henderson to the Environmental Commission; Dennis Anderson to the Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors and Linda Zesiger to the Cosmetology Board.
Others appointed were Raymond Flynn to the Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission; Carol Lark to the Commission of Professional Standards in Education; Aurora Wong to the Oriental Medicine Board and Sidney Hendrickson to the Work Investment Board
Roger Fox of Henderson and Geri Kodey were appointed to the Motorcycle Safety Advisory Board; Holly Lyman and Ritchie Stevens of Henderson to the Prostate Cancer Task Force; Patricia Iannuzzi and Eileen Horn, both of Henderson to the Libraries & Literacy Council and Robert McLellan of Las Vegas to the Juvenile Justice Commission.
