CARSON CITY -- A Las Vegas firm is the top company in the state in doing business with the U.S. Government Printing Office.
The federal agency said Monday that Haig's Quality Printing in Las Vegas performed $428,965 worth of printing in the first six months of this year. In Nevada, slightly more than $500,000 in private contracts was awarded during this period.
Nationally, Maryland's private companies led the nation with $13.7 million in government printing jobs, followed by Pennsylvania with $11.5 million. Nevada was 36th in the nation in the amount of work it did for the federal printing office.
The office said first-time contracts in Nevada were awarded to Color Reflections of Las Vegas for $4,717; ABC Media Corp. of Carson City for $1,395 and Dial Reprographics, Inc. of Las Vegas at $1,200.
Jim Bradley, managing director of consumer services for the printing office said the "competitive procurement program makes it easy for printers all over the country to get a shot at the millions of dollars we procure in business every year."
The government office said it produces key congressional, security and intelligent documents in-house and contracts out the majority of other printing and publishing to the private sector.
