Gunfire in an alley early Sunday morning in the 200 block of New York Avenue, near Sahara Avenue, left a 47-year-old woman dead and a 26-year-old man with serious wounds, Metro Police said.
Police said they believe the shooting took place around 1:30 a.m.
Twenty-year-old Matthew Sepi of Las Vegas is charged with murder with a deadly weapon and attempted murder in connection with the shootings.
The man who was allegedly shot by Sepi was taken to UMC Trauma and is expected to live, according to Metro.
Witnesses told officers at the scene that a man wearing a long coat was seen leaving the scene with a rifle and headed toward an apartment building on New York Avenue by foot, according to Metro.
Police also saw a dark car leaving the area of the apartment building that was driving fast, according to Metro.
Police stopped the vehicle and found Sepi inside the vehicle, as well as the rifle.
The Clark County Coroner's office had not released the name of the dead woman this morning.
