KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A woman who spent more than $100,000 gambling in recent years was pulled from a moat outside a Kansas City casino Friday after she apparently leapt into the 16-foot deep water.
Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers assigned to the Isle of Capri rescued the woman after a couple noticed a purse on a walkway that connects the casino to the parking garage. They then saw the woman floating in the water under the walkway.
A trooper and a passer-by performed CPR until firefighters arrived. The woman was taken to a hospital, where her condition was unavailable Friday night.
Police said the woman, whose name was not released, spent about $115,000 at the casino in recent years, including $300 on Friday.
She also was scheduled to make the first $75 monthly restitution payment today. As part of her sentence for a stealing conviction, she was ordered to repay more than $1,800 that she stole from a previous job.
