UNLV’s Cox Pavilion giving Las Vegas some Elmo room
Friday, April 29, 2005 | 8:54 a.m.
In a world where colors stimulate the mind and evoke emotions, it's difficult to imagine them vanishing. But this is exactly what happens in "Elmo's Coloring Book," the touring production by Sesame Street Live at the Cox Pavilion.
Colors disappear as our favorite furry friends perform a series of musical numbers. Professor Art and his Palettes are there to help solve the mystery while taking audiences to ancient Egypt, a musical junkyard and world of dinosaurs.
The production, one of several live productions for the Minneapolis VEE Corporation often touted as rock concerts for kids, includes the songs "Fuzzy and Blue," "Red-Hot Tango" and "Yellow Polka." It incorporates messages of sharing, diversity and acceptance.
Onstage are the usual cast of characters: Elmo, Zoe, Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, Grover, Oscar, Count Von Count, Honker and the recently controversial Cookie Monster, whose sweet tooth and changing diet has been in the news.
Showtimes are 7 p.m. today, 10:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12, $14 and $18. For more information, call 739-3267 or www.unlvtickets.com. Information can also be found at the www.sesamestreetlive.com.
