Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green was arrested after a domestic violence incident, the Brown County sheriff's department said Tuesday.

Deputies went to Green's Led geview home after a 911 call ended with a hang-up Monday night. The four-time Pro Bowler was arrested at about 10:10 p.m., was taken to the county jail, posted a $150 bond and was released about 11:50 p.m.

A court hearing was scheduled for May 11 on a disorderly conduct citation.

Packers general manager Ted Thompson said he was trying to get more information on the situation.

"We obviously care about Ahman and the entire Green family, and we will continue to support them through this time," he said in a statement.

A message left for Green's agent, David Dunn, wasn't immediately returned Tuesday night.

His death was confirmed by Jeff Moran, a spokesman for the medical examiner's office. Details were not immediately available.

A young woman who answered the phone at Sample's home in Philadelphia said the family would have no comment for a few days.

Sample had an interception for the New York Jets in their 16-7 upset of the Baltimore Colts in the third Super Bowl in 1969. That game, for which the Jets' Joe Namath "guaranteed" victory, established the old AFL on a par with the NFL after the two leagues had merged.

Earlier, Sample played for the Colts in the 1958 NFL championship game against the New York Giants that is still often described as "The Greatest Game Ever Played." The Colts won 23-17, the first game to go to overtime.

Thomas will undergo treatment and it is unclear when he will return to practice.

As part of a plea agreement, Hopkins was sentenced to a year of probation and must attend anger management counseling.

According to the police report, Hopkins grabbed his wife, Ellen, around the neck and choked her because she wouldn't stop talking to an insurance agent about adding a vehicle to their coverage.

Osgood, an exclusive-rights free agent, had 15 receptions for 308 yards and three touchdowns last season. One of his biggest plays came on special teams, though, when he ran down Chiefs kick returner Dante Hall from behind, causing a fumble and preventing a touchdown in a 34-31 San Diego victory Nov. 28 at Kansas City.

Meanwhile, nine college free agents agreed to contracts. They were cornerbacks Kevin Arbet, Ukee Dozier and Dominique Morris; guard Doug Buckles; guard/center Jonathan Clinkscale; linebacker Matt Grootegoed; defensive tackle Lynn McGruder; running back Fred Reid; and guard/tackle Leon Robinson.

U.S. District Judge William Quarles Jr. on Tuesday granted the request by Webster's estate that the NFL Player Retirement Plan and the NFL Player Supplemental Disability Plan pay all benefits owed under the plan retroactive to March 1991, when Webster became totally and permanently disabled. The payment must also include interest.
