Helldorado picnic set at county museum
The Salute to Helldorado Days Centennial Picnic will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Clark County Museum, 1830 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.
The picnic will offer free barbecue while it lasts, live music, entertainment for the children such as a Ferris wheel, face painting, a train and pony rides. The historic houses on Heritage Street will be open for tours.
The event is sponsored by Clark County Parks and Community Services and the Las Vegas Centennial Committee.

Kids get a chance to touch a truck
Touch a Truck, an event that allows children the opportunity to look at, explore, and climb on and sit inside the trucks they see every day on the roads, will be 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday at Challenger School, 9900 Shiloh School Lane (at Cheyenne Avenue and Metro Academy Way).
A fire truck, police car, construction trucks and many other vehicles will be on display.
Admission is $5; children under 2 are free with proceeds benefiting Family to Family Connection.

School support staff career fair planned
Those interested in becoming support staff employees for the Clark County School District can attend the district's Support Staff Career Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the cafeteria at Valley High School, 2839 Burnham Ave.
Applications will be accepted for bus drivers, food service personnel, clerical workers and more. Food service and clerical workers must be at least 18 years old. Bus drivers must be at least 21 with a valid Nevada driver's license, a commercial CDL license and an "S" endorsement.
All potential support staff, except those in substitute food service, must have a high school diploma or GED.

Las Vegas Councilman Gary Reese
again will include a picnic in the park at his next town hall meeting from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Stewart Place Park, 4700 Chantilly Ave. Residents are invited to bring the entire family to the meetings and talk with the councilman about issues affecting their community. Call 229-6582.
In celebration of the Las Vegas Centennial,
tours will be held on the hour at the Las Vegas historic post office on Stewart Avenue. Hours of operation are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m.; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday.Admission is free. Call 229-4631.
The Women's Auxiliary of the Salvation Army
will hold its annual Spring Luncheon and "Nearly New" Fashion show at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Stardust. Call Carol at 870-4430, Ext. 40 for more information.
