Pedestrian discovers injured man

An apparently homeless man with a head injury was discovered by a pedestrian Sunday between the railroad tracks and Interstate 15 in North Las Vegas, police officials said.

A North Las Vegas Police officer was flagged down by the pedestrian about 6 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The man was taken to University Medical Center by ambulance and was in critical condition, North Las Vegas Police spokesman Tim Bedwell said. The victim had not been identified.

"We're treating it as an attempted murder," Bedwell said, although the police have no suspects.

The injured man was found northwest of Stocker Street and Owens Avenue where North Las Vegas Police and other agencies removed homeless camps on Wednesday, Bedwell said.

Homeless people in the area told police the man was also homeless and lived in the area, Bedwell said.
