Letter: GOP’s extremism knows no bounds

I truly hope that judges around the country are carefully watching the current GOP TV commercial blasting "arrogant judges."

This is open defiance by the extremist Bush administration of constitutionally protected separation of powers.

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay was quick to condemn and threaten at least 12 Florida judges and the U.S. Supreme Court in the Terri Schiavo case, but he had no problem with the five activist U.S. Supreme Court Republican justices who effectively "appointed" George W. Bush president on Dec. 12, 2000.

I have never in my lifetime, and I'm 73, seen our Constitution trampled on like this extremist Bush regime. Separation of powers and separation of church and state are just words that get in the way of the fundamentalist right-wingers who now own Bush.

Today, the targets are the judges. Tomorrow, it could be non-Christians, divorcees or whomever the fundamentalists target with the blessing of their man in the "people's house."

It's a very scary situation, especially when Bush is forcing democracy on Iraq with guns and tanks.
