Suspects in robberies are apprehended

Police this morning apprehended two men suspected of robbing four convenience stores at gunpoint in the space of a few hours, police said.

Another suspect, possibly armed, was still at large this morning, Metro Police spokesman Officer Bill Cassell said.

Police believe the three men may also be responsible for five similar robberies on Monday, Cassell said.

Today, the three allegedly first hit a Henderson convenience store around 1:40 a.m., Henderson Police spokesman Todd Rasmussen said. They then allegedly held up two stores on Charleston Boulevard and one on Tropicana Avenue.

After the last robbery, a motorcycle officer spotted the suspected robbers' car. After a brief pursuit, the car was abandoned near the intersection of Spencer Street and Cherokee Lane behind the Boulevard Mall, Cassell said.

Police caught two of the men and are putting together evidence, such as surveillance tapes and fingerprints, to locate the third.
