Man shot in 7-Eleven parking lot
Tuesday, April 19, 2005 | 9:46 a.m.
An unidentified man was shot multiple times in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven convenience store at 4728 W. Craig Road, at the corner of W. Craig and Decatur Boulevard.
The victim was taken to University Medical Center and is expected to survive, said Tim Bedwell, spokesman for the North las Vegas Police.
The victim had reportedly pulled up to the 7-Eleven around 8 p.m. in his car when he was shot by at least two suspects, Bedwell said.
The suspects reportedly shot the victim while he was either inside or near his car and then drove from the scene, Bedwell said.
Police were interviewing several witnesses and wanted to investigate the shooting before releasing more information, he said, adding that he could not say whether a relationship existed between the shooters and victim or what the motive for the shooting is.
An off-duty Metro Police officer was reportedly in the 7-Eleven at the time of the shooting, but Bedwell could not confirm this. He said that if an officer was near the incident at the time, the best course of action would have been for the officer to act as a witness and not attempt to intervene.
The police will review the security cameras inside the convenience store as well as any other security cameras from stores at the busy intersection to glean any information on the incident, Bedwell said.
