Seniors invited to Earth Day event
Seniors age 50 and older are invited to celebrate Earth Day at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Las Vegas Derfelt Senior Citizens Center in Lorenzi Park.
Participants will join center and park staff to plant three flower beds, followed by a complimentary meal for the group.
There is no charge to participate. Funds for the project were provided by a grant from from the Nevada Park and Recreation Society Get SHOE program.

Wine tasting on tap at Anthem
"A Night of Feast, Fortune, and Fantasy," the third annual wine tasting event scheduled from 6 p.m. 10:30 p.m. Friday at Anthem Center, 2450 Hampton Road, Henderson, will benefit the community outreach center for the developmentally disabled.
Gypsies, fortune tellers, and camp fires will surround the guests creating an authentic experience of the gypsy lifestyle. Participants can have their fortune told, play games and win prizes all while enjoying delectable dishes and fine wines throughout the night.
The event also will include a cocktail reception overlooking the Las Vegas Valley, with a five course dinner and paired with wines donated by Southern Wine and Spirits, a host a live and silent auction with a variety of wine and art items up for bidding. The ninth annual Youth Rally
will be noon-6 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Park, 2601 E. Sunset Road, in recognition of National Day of Prayer.
The event will feature singing, mimes, rapp, dance, music, food and drinks. Call 796-1102.
