Gorman High gets new principal
The Diocese of Las Vegas has announced Paul Sullivan as the new principal of Bishop Gorman High School, taking over for Connie Gerber who will retire in May after 40 years at the school.
A 1973 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Sullivan earned his master's degree from the University of Northern Arizona in 1980, where he also worked as a graduate assistant football coach. He has worked in both public and private schools in Massachusetts, Georgia and Texas. Sullivan has spent 16 years working in Catholic education, serving as a school president, principal and educational consultant.
Bishop Gorman, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, is building a new campus in the southern area of Summerlin that is slated to open for the 2007-08 academic year.
State building to honor Bryan
The new state building to house the Conservation and Natural Resources Department in Carson City will be named in honor of former Sen. Richard Bryan, D-Nev.
Gov. Kenny Guinn said today that naming the building after Bryan is fitting because of Bryan's distinguished service in the Assembly, Senate, as governor and then in the U.S. Senate.
The building is to be completed in June and a special dedication ceremony will be held shortly thereafter, the governor said.
