15th annual AIDS Walk set
Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) will host its 15th annual AIDS Walk beginning with sign-in at 9 a.m. Sunday starting at the Lady Luck hotel on North Third Street. The event will travel through downtown Las Vegas.
The path will be filled with local entertainment, food and fun.
Penn and Teller will serve as the grand marshals. Rita Rudner will provide the comedic warm-up. The female illusionists from the soon-to-open Celebrity Show and Dance Club and a group of students from the Las Vegas Academy will perform.
Five local Girl Scout troops will distribute cookies during the walk to encourage participants.

Sesame Street helps fire safety
A Sesame Street fire safety program will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Cox Pavilion and Thomas & Mack Center.
Members of the Southern Nevada Fire Prevention Association will provide hands-on instruction using Sesame Street characters and themes and, for the first time, two local writers will provide storytelling training.
Attendees will perform finger plays, songs, puppet shows, and other teaching activities in sessions that will empower them to teach fire and burn safety to one of the most vulnerable age groups in the community.
Seniors are invited to free health expo
The Las Vegas Senior Citizens Center invites everyone age 50 and older to the free Senior Health Care Expo 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday at 451 E. Bonanza Road.
Free services will include cardio-pulmonary function testing, peripheral vascular diseases screening, anti-oxident level checks, chiropractic evaluations, glaucoma and cataract screening, dental and oral cancer checks, hearing and vision testing, blood pressure and blood glucose checks, bone density testing, chiropractic analysis, nutrition counseling, senior fitness advice and podiatry screening.
Free seminars on Social Security benefits will be provided.

Las Vegas Councilman Gary Reese
will include a picnic in the park with his town hall meeting from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Jaycee Park, 2100 E. St. Louis Ave., at Eastern Avenue, north of Sahara Avenue. Residents are invited to bring the entire family to the meeting and talk with the councilman about issues affecting their community. Reese will have an informational meeting with the parents while children will be treated nearby to hamburgers and hotdogs and other activities. Call 229-6582.
The Epiphany Wellness Center
will host a seminar entitled Balancing Female Hormones Naturally at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lanier Interiors, 11251 S. Eastern Ave., Suite 180, Henderson, to educate the public about PMS, memopause and alternative methods for addressing these symptoms. Call 456-0045 or visit www.draristotle.com.
