Georgia players arrested after brawl

Less than 12 hours after the G-Day game concluded spring football drills, Georgia defensive starters Derrick White and Kedric Golston were arrested Sunday morning for their roles in a bar fight and could face disciplinary action that might delay the start of their senior seasons.

Both players were briefly jailed, then released on bond after being taken into custody on misdemeanor charges.

Coach Mark Richt was "gathering as much evidence" as he could about the arrests and it is not known if or how soon he would respond, said Claude Felton, associate athletics director for sports communications.

Valpo center critical

Valparaiso center Kenny Harris collapsed during a workout Monday and was still hospitalized today in critical condition. He was in the athletic center's weight room when he fell ill. Harris, a 6-foot-10 sophomore who was listed on the team roster at 310 pounds, has fought weight and health issues since his enrollment at Valparaiso.

Churchill Downs frets

With the Kentucky Derby less than four weeks away, Churchill Downs is asking a judge to ensure the Jockeys' Guild does not direct a Derby walkout. Churchill sued the guild last month, saying it violated antitrust laws by orchestrating walkouts last fall at the track and at Churchill-owned Hoosier Park near Indianapolis over inadequate on-track accident insurance.

Tyson to fight in June

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson will fight for the first time in nearly a year, facing journeyman Kevin McBride on June 11 at Washington's MCI Center. McBride, 31, defeated Kevin Montiy by technical knockout on March 18 in his last fight.

Colorado picks AD

San Diego State athletic director and Boulder, Colo., native Mike Bohn, 44, has agreed to take the same post within Colorado's troubled athletic department. The school planned to introduce Bohn as Dick Tharp's successor at a news conference Wednesday. -- Sun wire services
