Letter: Mexicans need to be ‘liberated’
Tuesday, April 12, 2005 | 9:18 a.m.
Your Sunday article, headlined "Day labor dilemma," assumes that illegal immigrants have rights, especially "workers" rights. These assertions are patently false and misleading.
The Mexican government is unresponsive to the basic needs of the Mexican people, and, in effect, says to the Mexican citizens: "Go dump on your North American neighbors. Let them feed you, clothe you, give you free medical, schooling and education at the expense of the American taxpayer."
I, for one, am fed up with this attitude.
The Mexican nationals need to be "liberated" in much the same way as the United States helped liberate Iraqi citizens. With money and guns and with good military advisers, I feel Mexico can be returned to the control of its citizens, thus taking the stranglehold off of the individual taxpayer who has been subsidizing the illegals.
