Margie S. Antonelli

Margie S. Antonelli, 74, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Texas. A resident for seven months, she was a medical receptionist.

She is survived by her husband, Anthony; two daughters, Cynthia J. Mino and Lori A. Fields; one sister, Carolyn Burkhead; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Benjamin Asberry

Benjamin Asberry, 63, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 19, 1941, in Louisiana. A resident for 42 years, he was a pit boss.

He is survived by three sons, Henry Taylor, Kenyon Montgomery and Antonio Asberry, two daughters, Adell Asberry and Keisha Asberry, and two brothers, James Asberry and Curley Asberry, all of Las Vegas; four sisters, Ozell McDaniel and Alice Douglas, both of Las Vegas, Savanah Ross of Arkansas and Mary Janes of St. Louis; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. today in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Grace Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 809 W. Bartlett Ave. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Melvin Joseph Barnes

Melvin Joseph Barnes, 95, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 13, 1910. A resident for 21 years, he was a retired welder.

He is survived by three daughters, Verletta Rundquist, Shirlene Brannon and Jennifer Tracey, and one son, Spenser Barnes, all of Las Vegas; three brothers, Sterling Barnes of Sunset, Utah, Vernon Barnes of Arco, Idaho, and Winston Barnes of Minot, N.D.; one sister, Loretta Staley of Evanston, Wyo.; and 14 grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel.

Richard Raub Cohn

Richard Raub Cohn, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday. He was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Easton, Pa. A resident for eight years, he was a retired drug store owner.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Irene.

He is survived by two daughters, Eileen Workheiser of Las Vegas and Elizabeth Foster of Springfield, Ill.; one son, Richard L. Cohn of Las Vegas; one sister, Ruth Tomaine of Phillipsburg, N.J.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be one hour prior to a 10 a.m. service Saturday in Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 6670 W. Cheyenne Ave. Entombment will be private at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Ernesto Damot

Ernesto Damot, 59, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born April 18, 1945, in the Philippines. A resident for 12 years, he was a casino change person.

He is survived by his wife, Nicetas; three sons, Carlo Damot, Glennis Damot and Steven Damot; his mother, Natividad Nueva; three brothers, Amado Damot, Angel Damot and Tito Damot; and one sister, Lourdes D. Balang.

Visitation will be one hour prior to a 4 p.m. service today in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Constance Fry

Constance Fry, 78, of Henderson died April 1 in Henderson. She was born Aug. 17, 1926, in Akron, Ohio. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence D. Sr.; three sons, Lawrence D. Fry Jr. of Port Charlotte, Fla., James A. Fry of Canton, Ohio, and Daniel L. Fry of Henderson; two daughters, Victoria L. Andrie of Alliance, Ohio, and Toni A. Fry of Canton; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Monday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

Faik Halilovic

Faik Halilovic, 30, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospice. He was born Dec. 26, 1974, in Doboj, Bosnia. A resident for seven years, he was a dealer.

He is survived by his parents, Fazira and Fajko Halilovic, both of Bosnia.

Burial will be in Bosnia. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. is handling arrangements.

Michael Anthony Higgins

Michael Anthony Higgins, 48, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. A resident for 15 years, he was born Aug. 14, 1956, in Louisiana.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda; one daughter, Brittney Higgins of Las Vegas; two brothers, Jerome Higgins and Larry Higgins, two sisters, Alma J. Goins and Henri A. Smith, all of Louisiana.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. today in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Victory Missionary Baptist Church, 500 W. Monroe Ave. Burial will be in Louisiana.

Jewel Jones

Jewel Jones, 78, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born May 29, 1926, in Stephens, Ark. A resident for four months, he was a retired Hughes Aircraft engineer of 35 years.

He is survived by one son, Darrell T. Jones, and one daughter, Kandice Jones, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Kelly Jones of Inglewood, Calif.; his companion, Bernice McCoy of Los Angeles; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be one hour prior to a 1 p.m. funeral service Tuesday in Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St.

Jack A. Nystrom

Jack A. Nystrom, 73, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born April 13, 1931, in Finland. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired field mechanic in the oil industry and a member of the Lord Strathcona Royal Horse Regiment of Canada.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; one son, John Andrew Nystrom of Calgary, Alberta; two stepsons, Bryan Wells and Brandon Wells, both of Las Vegas; three brothers, Juhani Nystrom, Eero Nystrom, and Jammu Nystrom, all of Finland; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. is handling arrangements.

Robert 'Hal' Parker

Robert "Hal" Parker, 79, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born May 13, 1925, in Joseph, Utah. A resident for many years, he was a retired orthodontist, a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, served as an LDS mission president, was a member of the Las Vegas Mission Presidency and was director of the Independence, Mo., Visitors Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen; and two sisters, Colleen Sanders and Sally Turpin.

He is survived by two daughters, Judi Ann Nielson of Las Vegas and Jodi Lynn Brooksby of Tualatin, Ore.; one son, Robert Jeffery Parker of Las Vegas; three brothers, Juel, George Rex, and Gordon Parker; five sisters, Gerladine Aldous Nordfors, Jackie Werts, Patsy Greenwood, Bonnie Evans and Peggy Jensen; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be two hours prior to a 1 p.m. service Saturday in the LDS Las Vegas Lakes Stake Center, 1801 Monte Cristo Way. Burial will be in Monroe, Utah. Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, Utah 84770, is handling arrangements.

Colin 'Buck' Ryness

Colin "Buck" Ryness, 83, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospice. He was born April 3, 1922, in Los Angeles. A resident for 55 years, he was a retired carpenter, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Carpenters Union.

He is survived by two sons, Lance Ryness of Henderson and Russell Ryness of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane, is handling arrangements.

David Sass

David Sass, 45, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 10, 1959, in Wrentham, Mass. A resident for 25 years, he was a real estate investor and a member of the Las Vegas Rebels Hockey Club.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rhonda Sass and Sarah Sass; and two brothers, Steven Sass and Harvey Sass.

He is survived by one son, Max Sass, his parents, Sandra and Fred Sass, and two sisters, Sonya Haggerty and Suzanne Gruchy, all of Las Vegas.

Services were 1 p.m. today in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane. Burial followed in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Mitchell D. Simon

Mitchell D. Simon, 83, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local care center. He was born April 4, 1922, in Detroit. A resident for five years, he was a retired automobile salesman, a World War II Army and Navy veteran and a member of American Legion Post 76.

He is survived by his wife, Gail A.; three sons, Gary T. Simon of North Las Vegas, Mark D. Simon of Westminster, Colo., and Thomas M. Simon of Arvada, Colo.; one daughter, Michele M. Slayer of Kiowa, Colo.; and three grandchildren.

All services will be in Denver. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.
