Project Sunshine event on Saturday
Project Sunshine's Art and Innocence Celebration will be 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Panos Hall and Events Center, 5300 S. El Camino Road, to benefit children facing life-threatening illnesses or situations.
The charity event showcases original art created by young campers. The Camps are sponsored by Centra Properties and Stewart Title.
RecTrek program planned in summer
RecTrek, a summer program for youth ages 6-12 (children may be 5 if they have completed kindergarten) will be offered at eight County recreation centers.
RecTrek is held from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Cost is $14 per day; $65 per week.
Participants are required to bring a lunch and two snacks that do not need heating or refrigeration. All RecTrek participants will be required to pass a swim test prior to participating in any swimming activities or field trips.
Swim dates and times will be announced in advance at each location. Parents may escort their child to any Clark County pool in order to obtain a swim test certificate.
Walk-in registration for RecTrek has begun for camp weeks of June 13 through Aug. 26. Call 455-8200 for locations and more information.
Sessions help keep PACE with arthritis
PACE (People with Arthritis Can Exercise), an exercise program designed specifically for people with arthritis, will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Mondays at Sunrise Senior Friends, 3101 S. Maryland Parkway.
The exercise uses gentle activities to help increase joint flexibility, range of motion, muscle strength and overall stamina. Participants report such benefits as increased functional ability, increased self-care behaviors, decreased pain and decreased depression. Call 735-5510.
"Coronary Disease, Don't Ignore the Early Signs,"
a lunch and lecture will be 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesday in Southern Hills Hospital's Education Rooms 1 and 2, 9300 W. Sunset Road. Participants will learn to recognize the first signs of CAD and how to make important changes in your life. To reserve a seat, call 880-2700.
