Letter: Bush hypocritical to attend funeral
Thursday, April 7, 2005 | 9:35 a.m.
I'm upset with President Bush's plans to attend the funeral for Pope John Paul II. I was born a Roman Catholic almost 76 years ago and I don't want the president going anywhere near the pope's funeral.
The two of them are light years apart. One gets Americans killed or maimed while the other made life our most precious commodity.
I say to Bush: Go back to Crawford and leave the Catholics alone to honor the pope. Your efforts to gain political points won't work by your going there.
You do not represent me and you never could.
