Art & Innocence scheduled Saturday

Project Sunshine will host the second annual Art & Innocence Celebration Saturday, benefitting recreational camps for critically ill and disadvantaged children.

The event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Panos Events Center at Torino Ranch, in the Lovell Canyon area of the Spring Mountains.

The charity event celebrates the innocence of children by showcasing original art created by young campers facing life-threatening illnesses or situations. The event also will feature a silent auction with renowned artwork.

Camps supported by Project Sunshine are held at Torino Ranch.

Event hosts walking, adopting of dogs

The second annual Aliante Trails and Tails 5k Run and One-Mile Doggie Stroll will begin 8 a.m. Saturday at Aliante, 2600 Nature Park Drive, North Las Vegas.

Dogs will be on hand to walk and adopt. The event will also offer free refreshments, T-shirts, a free doggie bandana, a goodie bag, and enter to win three days, two nights stay at Green Valley Ranch Station, and dinner for two at Sushi Sake.

Guest speaker Robert Nelson Courtland

of the Senior Law Project will discuss legal help available to seniors at the Seniors United meeting Wednesday at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. Refreshments will be served. Call 507-3400.

The fourth annual golf classic

benefitting the American Red Cross' programs, including disaster assistance and health and safety training, will be April 18 at Tournament Players club, 1700 Village Center Drive. The cost is $400; $1,500 for a foursome. Call 791-3311.

Celebrate Make A Quilt Day

9 a.m.-noon April 20 by viewing the handmade works by the quilting class at Derfelt Senior Citizens Center, 3343 W. Washington Ave. Visitors will be able to talk with the quilters and the instructor, Girtia Lukes. Admission is free. Call 229-6601.

"Making Ends Meet and Dreams Come True,"

is a free class 6 p.m. April 20 at the Consumer Credit Counseling Service Conference Center, 2650 S. Jones Blvd. Participants will learn methods to organize spending, reduce debt and build and maintain a good credit history without making costly or hazardous mistakes. To register, call 364-0344.

"1980 Eruption of Mount Saint Helens"

will be presented by the Boulder Gem Club's member Mardelle Couch at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Multi-Use Building, 1204 Sixth St. Call Sue McCollough at 293-7853.

The program "Mining Issues and Reclamation in Nevada"

Family Storytime in English and Spanish

will begin 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the North Las Vegas Library, 2300 Civic Center Drive, North Las Vegas. The program will include stories, crafts and other fun activities for the entire family.
