Steve Wynn has come out against the state's new tax on live entertainment. He says it's threatening the future of casino lounges. At the same time, the state and a majority of residents have come out in support of more nonsmoking areas in casinos.
The Legislature should do some negotiating here. Couldn't the state either reduce or eliminate the live-entertainment tax, in exchange for the casinos opening nonsmoking areas?
I am very surprised that the various highly paid casino moguls and visionaries did not mandate nonsmoking areas many years ago. Couldn't they see the bottom line? Or did smoke get in their eyes?
