Letter: War not worth American lives

Thank you for publishing the photos of 899 soldiers killed in Iraq in your Sept. 12 edition. These photos, along with others as they become available, should be displayed in the White House and in Air Force One, where President Bush could not avoid seeing them.

Bush should be asked whether he really believes that the war in Iraq is worth more than a thousand dead soldiers (to date), several thousand wounded and more than $200 billion that could have been used to better the lives of the American people.

Even if Saddam had possessed WMD, he did not, and likely never would have had, the capability to use them against the United States.

George Bush should be sent back to Texas where he could never again put American lives at risk and squander taxpayer dollars.
