Letter: Bush uses wrong tools vs. terror
Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004 | 9:12 a.m.
Any voters who still think George W. Bush is a leader must include "leading astray" in their definition of leadership. This spoiled child of a former president made one sensible move after 9/11 when he sent troops to Afghanistan to eradicate the terrorist training camps and the faction that let them exist.
After that move, Bush went crazy. Why did he send our Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and Air Force into war with Iraq?
In addition to leading in the wrong direction he has tied down our national defense forces and risked financial ruin and used the wrong tools for rooting out terrorist cells. Hunting terrorists is a job for police and security services such as the FBI and CIA, in cooperation with like forces in every country. What good are tanks and artillery when terrorists are holding schoolchildren hostage and threatening to blow them up, like those in Russia?
How are we ever going to get out of Iraq? We had better start by voting out the Bush administration. Maybe a fresh batch of politicians can patch up our international relations and put together a united front for hunting terrorists. They threaten all of humanity, not just Americans.
