The company that produces the Travel Channel's most successful television series has signed an agreement with International Game Technology to license the production as a slot machine game.
WPT Enterprises Inc., Los Angeles, signed an agreement with IGT to license its "World Poker Tour" TV series into reel slots and video poker games. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"World Poker Tour," launched in March 2003, airs Wednesday nights on the Travel Channel and has been boosted by the recent increased popularity in poker. The show has become the highest-rated production in the history of the Travel Channel.
Reno-based IGT plans to roll out the new series-branded games within two years.
