Woodward, Bradlee will talk at UNLV

Two of the men who broke the Watergate scandal for the Washington Post will speak on "Presidents, Politics, and the Press" 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas' Artemus Ham Hall.

Journalist Bob Woodward and Editor and Publisher Ben Bradlee will share their perspectives on the media's political coverage as part of UNLV's Barrick Lecture Series.

Woodward, now the assistant managing editor of the Washington Post, won a Pulitzer Prize in 1973 for his reporting with Carl Bernstein on the burglary at the Watergate Hotel in Washington that ended in the resignation of President Richard Nixon. Bradlee, who supervised their reporting, was executive editor of the Post from 1968 to 1991.

All three men were immortalized in the 1976 film "All the President's Men" starring Robert Redford as Woodward, Dustin Hoffman as Bernstein and Jason Robards as Bradlee. The movie inspired swarms of students to enter journalism school.

Woodward won a second Pulitzer Prize for his reporting on the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and is the author of 10 best-selling non-fiction books, including "Bush at War" in 2002 and this year's "Plan of Attack."

Admission is free, but tickets must be picked up in person at the Thomas & Mack Center or Performing Arts Center box offices.
