The Air Force is seeking public comment on a draft environmental assessment for disposal of targets hit by depleted uranium cannon rounds on the Nevada Test and Training Range.
The public comment period began Tuesday and will continue through Oct. 22.
The Air Force said about 180 targets, mostly tanks, are designated for disposal or reuse.
The draft environmental assessment focuses on air quality, soils and water resources, hazardous materials and waste, health and safety, biological resources and cultural resources.
The document is available at a handful of libraries in Southern Nevada, on the Web site www.cevp.com, and at the Nellis Air Force Base Public Affairs Office at 4370 N. Washington Blvd, Suite 223.
