Officials to unveil widening plans for U.S. 95 south of downtown LV
Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004 | 11:14 a.m.
Nevada Department of Transportation officials plan to unveil their proposal for widening U.S. 95 from the Spaghetti Bowl south to the foothills of Henderson at a public meeting tonight.
Plans for the highway, also known as Interstate 515 and U.S. 93, include installing express lanes near the Interstate 15 exchange so that drivers can avoid other motorists exiting and entering the freeway system near downtown Las Vegas, Susan Berkley, NDOT public information adviser, said.
The proposal also calls for new entrance and exit ramps at F Street to give drivers who accidentally enter those express lanes a last chance to exit downtown, Berkley said, and a new ramp at Sahara Avenue to ease congestion at other interchanges along the eastern segment of the freeway.
Project managers will answer questions about the plans today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the East Las Vegas Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave.
