Forum scheduled for JP candidates
The Charleston Neighborhood Preservation Association will host a question and answer session for Justice Court candidates from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the West Sahara Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave.
Candidates are: Joe Bonaventure, Michael Federico, Fernando Guzman, Lizzie Hatcher, Deanne Rymarowicz, Joseph Sciscento, and Bernie Zadrowski.

Students can get service academy info
Members of the Nevada congressional delegation will host the Southern Nevada Service Academy Information Night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Community College of Southern Nevada, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave.
The forum is designed to provide information to students regarding the eduction and career opportunities available at the military academies
Representatives from the academies as well as the University of Nevada, Las Vegas/CCSN Army ROTC will be available to provided information and answer questions.
Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., will be master of ceremonies.
St. Rose will host baby safety program
St. Rose Dominican Hospitals' Siena Campus, 3001 St. Rose Parkway, Henderson, is hosting a Baby and Child Safety Bonanza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the hospital.
The Baby and Child Safety Bonanza will include car seat safety checks, infant and child CPR demonstrations and child fingerprinting. There will be booths with information on subjects such as SIDS, Shaken Baby Syndrome and choking hazards. Participants can tour the Maternal/Child and Pediatrics Units as well. Children can take part in activities such as face painting and storytelling.

Program to highlight Deaf Awareness Week
In recognition of Deaf Awareness Week, the Las Vegas Paradise Sertoma Club, in conjunction with Circus-Circus Adventuredome, will hold a Deaf Awareness Day event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Circus-Circus.
The one-day event will house up to 5,000 discounted ticket holders to enjoy a full day of unlimited rides, music in motion performances, deaf performers, drawings and prizes, face painting and temporary tattoos, specialty souvenir photos, 2-for-1 Midway tickets and much more.
The event will raise funds and awareness for deaf children.
Tickets are $18; $15.50 for children 12 and under.

Cannery fund-raiser to fight various diseases
Nevada Open Doors Foundation will hold a fund-raiser from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Cannery hotel in North Las Vegas to help individuals who have been afflicted with disabilities such as unusual cardiac disease that has left them with difficulty in speech and swallowing, degenerative arthritic changes, 18 year olds with progressive juvenile scoliosis, visual losses, hearing impaired, brain injuries, paraplegics and more.
The event will be hosted by Tony Sacca who will feature a variety of entertainers who will be donating their services.
Admission is $20.

Walk for Hope targets breast cancer
City of Hope's Walk for Hope to Cure Breast Cancer, an annual leisure walk and stroller roll that raises money to support lifesaving breast cancer research, treatment and education programs, will begin with registration at 7 a.m. Saturday, followed by the walk at 8 a.m. at Sunset Park, corner of Sunset Road and Eastern Avenue.
Participants raise donations by using sponsor forms and asking family, friends and co-workers to sponsor their walk. The minimum pre-registration donation is $25 for adults; $15 for children; day-of-event registration donation is $30 for adults; $20 for children. Call Jodette Virissimo at 933-3704.
The Las Vegas Stamp Fair
will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Gold Coast. The event will offer free appraisals. For more information, call Stephen Pattillo at 714-995-0548 or email number1banana@hotmail.com.
A "Nifty-Sixty" class reunion for the Las Vegas High School
