Portion of Craig Road is closed

Craig Road between El Capitan Way and Durango Drive is closed and will remain closed for four to six weeks to allow for work on the Gowan North Channel flood control improvement project, Las Vegas city officials said.

They suggest Lone Mountain Road and Alexander Road as alternate routes for through east-west travel. Access for area residents will be maintained in the area that is closed, according to a statement issued by Las Vegas City Hall.

Work on the $6.7 million project, paid for by the Clark County Regional Flood Control District, started in June 2004 in the area of Lone Mountain Road, Durango Drive, Alexander Road and El Capitan Way. Craig Road should reopen in late October. The entire project is slated for completion in the first quarter of 2005.
