District 11

Current District Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez and Las Vegas attorney Mike Davidson came out on top in a six-way race for the Department 11 seat.

Gonzalez, 43, who was appointed to the bench in July, led the primary with 45,162 votes, 34.6 percent. Davidson, 50, who worked as an assistant district attorney for Clark County and serves on the State Bar Board of Governors, finished second with 29,149 votes, 22 percent.

Those who failed to qualify for the general election were: Tim Williams, 15.7 percent; Matthew Paul Harter, 13 percent; Robert Kurth, 8.7 percent; and Bruce Gale, 5 percent.

Family Court D

Family Court Judges Gerald Hardcastle and Robert Lueck each faced three challengers seeking to unseat them.

Hardcastle, 58, who pointed to his 31 years of legal experience, won 66,598 votes or 51.5 percent and will face Las Vegas attorney Elizabeth Halverson, 47, in the general election. Halverson picked up 27,880 votes or 21 percent.

Las Vegas attorneys Vicki Carlton and M. Lauren Lok split the rest of the vote.

Family Court E

Lueck, 56, who came to the race with more than five years' experience as a Family Court judge, received 41,594 votes, 32.8 percent. In the general election, he will face attorney Sandra Pomerenze, 55, an 18-year veteran, who won 31,999 votes or 25 percent.

Lillian Jo Sondgeroth Davis, with 21 percent, and John Lukens with 20 percent, split the rest of the vote.

Family Court F

Las Vegas attorney Stefany Ann Miley, 33, challenged Family Court Judge Bob Gaston, saying her diverse experience including corporate and personal injury law qualified her to unseat the current judge.

But Gaston picked up 46.5 percent, 59,492 votes, with Miley taking 31 percent, 40,496 votes. They will face off in the general election. Gayle Beck-Nathan, 50, finished third with 21.9 percent.

Gaston, 64, a former teacher who holds a doctorate in education, has served as presiding judge of the Family Court and a juvenile judge during his 12 years on the bench.
