Consumers will see their natural gas bills rise by about 5 percent beginning this month as new rates approved by regulators last week go into effect.
The state Public Utilities Commission approved a $7.3 million, or about 2.5 percent overall, general rate increase for Southwest Gas Corp. of Las Vegas.
Southwest Gas on Tuesday said that the increase, which becomes effective today, will push the average residential summer bill from $25.77 to $27.10, up $1.33 or 5.16 percent. The average residential winter bill will climb from $63.86 to $66.54, up $2.68 or 4.2 percent.
