On a positive note, NDOW creel census clerks have noticed an improvement in the body condition of stripers that are coming from Las Vegas Wash. In recent weeks many of the stripers coming from that part of the lake were skinny.
Boaters continue to have success in that part of the lake for fish that weigh 1-2 pounds. However, they are having trouble finding shad for use as bait because the recent rains have made for murky water conditions, and it is now difficult to locate the bait fish.
Most of the fish have been between 8 ounces and 1 pound. Fishing was difficult following last week's rainbow trout plant at Willow Beach because of low water level. The fish were stocked from the dock because that was the only area that the stocking truck could access the water.
The access road to Willow Beach suffered flood damage during last week's storm. Anglers heading to Willow Beach should avoid driving on the road during rains because of the possibility of flood conditions.
