More than 400 women from 40 countries attended the International Women's Forum, which wrapped up its World Leadership Conference on Thursday at the Bellagio.
The four-day event carried the theme "The Future of Change."
A gala Thursday night honored Valentina Tereshkova, the world's first female astronaut, and Judith Jamison, artistic director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Both women will be placed in the group's Hall of Fame.
Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, and Ludmila Shvetsova, the deputy mayor of Moscow, introduced Tereshkova. Wynn Resorts director Elaine Wynn and dancer/choreographer Carmen de Lavallade introduced Jamison.
Dalia Falah Shawkat, a University of Baghdad student, and her mother, Iraqi National Assembly member Rajaa Habib Al Khuzai were part of a panel that addressed the forum Thursday on the future of women's leadership.
Among other topics discussed during the forum were water and resource management, improved strategies to deal with infectious diseases and the role of women in managing transition in enterprise.
Other topics included issues of business, geopolitics, health and global natural resources.
