Isle of Capri ordered to detail complete plan to board

Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004 | 9:11 a.m.

METAIRIE, La. -- Officials in Jefferson Parish want details of a plan to move an Isle of Capri Casino from Lake Charles to suburban New Orleans to become public before the move is considered by state gambling regulators.

The state attorney general has told the company to have all aspects of the plan -- including traffic studies and the names of consultants -- ready for gambling regulators to consider next month.

The question is whether that information will be public before the Dec. 21 meeting of the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.

The proposed move has received a chilly reception from officials in Jefferson Parish, the intended site of the casino move. Isle of Capri, which currently has two boats in Lake Charles, wants to move one to a site near the Huey P. Long Bridge.
