Sprint Corp. said on Tuesday that it would lay off 300 workers in the 18 states -- including 150 employees in Las Vegas, where it is the dominant local service provider.
Lost in Las Vegas will be call center jobs, including operator services and positions servicing real estate developers. Also lost will be positions dedicated to retaining customers that have indicated plans to leave for other providers.
Among the positions in the Las Vegas call center being spared are Spanish speaking customer service positions.
Laid-off workers will be eligible for severance packages or transfers to other open positions in the company.
After the layoffs Sprint will still have about 1,500 employees in Las Vegas.
