Voting guides offered around the valley

The League of Women Voters will have Easy Voter and Clark County Voter guides available at locations throughout Southern Nevada, intended to provide nonpartisan information about candidates.

The guides will be available in all Clark County public libraries and at the courtesy counters of all Smith's and Albertsons grocery stores. The guides will be available at all Department of Motor Vehicles offices, the Clark County Election Department and at the County Government Center. Both guides are free and in Spanish and English.

Winter Splash Camp set for kids

The Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services is offering Winter Splash Camp for children ages 6 to 11 years old from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Dec. 20 through Dec. 23 at the Municipal Pool, 431 E. Bonanza Road.

Children will enjoy classroom and pool instruction in water safety, snorkeling, kayaking, water polo, diving and synchronized swimming in a safe environment under close supervision. The camp will begin each day with games, followed by classroom activities.

The cost is $50.

The Girl Scouts

will hold a Trunk or Treat for Halloween 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Friday at the Donald W. Reynolds Scout Training and Service Center, 2941 Harris Ave. On hand will be activities such as spooky bingo, a cake walk, bobbing for apples, a hula-hoop contest and cookie decorating. Youth Department of the Tabernacle of Praise Church will be hosting its first Hallelujah Harvest Festival 6-9 p.m. Friday at the church, 7550 Constantinople Ave. The youth department is offering a safe way to celebrate the fall season. The event will offer face painting, games, a bounce house, food and treats. The cost of event is $5 for a wristband or $1 per ticket. Call 633-5273.

The Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada

will host its Fall Gift Sale 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday at 5300 Vegas Drive, for the holidays. Items consist of feathered masks, werewolves, witches hats, lava lamps, candle holders and more. Call 648-1990.
