Radio personality Papa Joe Chevalier defeated Mark Franco this past weekend to advance in the Stardust Invitational football handicapping tournament. Both men went 4-3 against the point spread in their seven selections, but Papa Joe hit his best bet, the Kansas City Chiefs minus 4 points, while Franco's best bet missed.
After seven weeks, the Stardust's contestants best bets are 10-4 overall. At 9 p.m. Friday at the Stardust, Ted Sevransky meets fellow handicapper Al McMordie in another first-round matchup.
The contest, in its 10th year, features 16 entrants competing in a single-elimination tournament for a $10,000 prize.
