Man hit while crossing street
A 33-year-old man was injured by a pickup truck this morning as he jaywalked across Lake Mead Boulevard near Pecos Road in North Las Vegas, police said.
Officer Tim Bedwell, police spokesman, said the man was running arcoss the street, about 300 feet from the intersection with Pecos, when the pickup hit him at 6:30 a.m.
The man was taken to University Medical Center to be treated for non- life-threatening injuries, Bedwell said.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, he said, and the driver is not expected to be cited because the pedestrian appears to have been at fault.
Winter storm to bring some rain
This morning's overcast skies are indicative of an early winter storm rolling into the Las Vegas Valley, National Weather Service meteorologist Steve Downs said.
There is a 60 percent chance of rain tonight after midnight and a 70 percent chance of rain throughout the day Wednesday, tapering off early Thursday, Downs said. Snow is expected to fall on Mount Charleston.
The temperature at about 8:30 this morning was 57 degrees with a southwind of 16 mph.
The Weather Service was expecting highs to stay in the upper 60s today with slightly cooler temperatures in the lower 60s Wednesday, Downs said.
