Officials: No problems in late ballot mailings

The Clark County Election Department, responding to complaints from some Boulder City residents who said they did not receive their sample ballots, opted Monday to make extra sample ballots available at the city clerk's office.
Meanwhile both Larry Lomax, the Clark County Registrar of Voters, and a U.S. Postal Service spokesman denied there was any glitch in the mailing process.
The Boulder City ballots were mailed Thursday and were the last series to be labeled for delivery to the post office, Lomax said. The Election Department began mailing the 645,000 sample ballots Oct. 8.
"If they had a glitch they didn't tell me," he said.
The ballots were mailed behind schedule after the Nevada Supreme Court ruled the Election Department must rewrite the explanation for the Question 3 measure, Lomax said.
Lomax said he was told about half of Boulder City's registered voters received their ballots on Saturday. The other half were expected to get their ballots Monday.
An estimated 350 Boulder City residents voted Monday, the first day of early voting in Boulder City, Lomax said. Early voting in Boulder City ends today at 6 p.m.
However, at least one Boulder City resident had not received his sample ballot Monday afternoon.
Bob Crowe, a retired Boulder City resident, said he picked up sample ballots for him and his wife Monday morning after not receiving the ballots in the mail.
The Crowes were planning to cast their votes Monday afternoon, he said.
