Letter: Early voters are neither lazy nor moronic
Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004 | 9:11 a.m.
As a long-distance truck driver, I may not be in town Nov. 2. While Sun columnist Jon Ralston is entitled to his opinion ("Election Day worth the wait," Las Vegas Sun, Oct. 17), I take issue at his calling me lazy or moronic because I chose to vote early. The very media that pays his salary encourages early voting to avoid long lines on Nov. 2.
My husband and I studied the issues as presented and the candidates' responses to them and we believe we have made a very careful selection as to our choices for elective office. To say an early vote would be a vote for the incumbents is in itself moronic, to use Ralston's description of early voters. To delay our choices to hear a late debate is also moronic. Two more weeks isn't going to change any candidate's spin on the issues.
Finally, I just want to directly answer Mr. Ralston: I am not lazy or moronic.
