Library district seeks public input
The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District will conduct community meetings at 7 p.m. over the next two weeks at local libraries to receive input and ideas from the public that will help to shape the future of library services.
Tonight: Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave.
Oct. 25: West Las Vegas Library, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd.
Oct. 26: Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.

Klaaskids event planned Wednesday
Marc Klaas, the father of Polly Klaas, presents "Klaaskids Print-A-Thon," a national child safety event 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at Rex Bell Elementary School, 2900 Wilmington Way.
Klaas formed the KlaasKids Foundation, a nonprofit organization that partners with concerned citizens, the private sector, law enforcement agencies and local, state and federal legislators to develop ways to safeguard our children against violence.
The murder of Polly led to changes in the way law enforcement handles kidnappings.
The program is free and open to the public.

Meeting planned on NLV rental policy
Spanish speaking residential rental property owners, residential rental property managers, and the general public are encouraged to attend a community meeting 6 tonight at North Las Vegas City Hall Council Chambers, 2200 Civic Center Drive, to discuss a proposed residential rental housing program requiring systematic inspections of all rental property.
The meeting will include a presentation in Spanish about the program, and includes a question and answer session.

Monaco Middle School
is hosting a Crime Prevention Carnival 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the school, 1870 N. Lamont St., to promote crime prevention to neighbors, students, residents and businesses in Northeast Las Vegas. The public is invited to attend. Admission is free and games and food include a small donation. Call 799-3670.
The Salvation Army
and the Omidyar Foundation team up to build a new KaBoom Playground in just one day beginning 8:30 a.m. Saturday at 2828 E. Cheyenne Ave., North Las Vegas. Call 870-4430, ext. 23.
