A woman accused of getting a friend to kill the man she suspected of burglarizing her apartment pleaded not guilty on Thursday.
Julia Jarrell, 34, was arraigned on charges of murder with a deadly weapon, first-degree kidnapping with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
On May 4, Jarrell's friend Ramon Iniguez said he shot 26-year-old Marc Somers in the parking lot of a nightclub at Jarrell's behest.
Jarrell believed Somers stole a plasma television, a diamond ring, $2,500 cash and a handgun from her apartment, and Iniguez testified that she asked him to take Somers hostage until he returned her property.
Instead, Somers pulled a gun, Iniguez said at Jarrell's preliminary hearing earlier this month.
Jarrell's trial date is to be set next week.
