Sheriff, officers face hair-raising duty
Friday, Oct. 15, 2004 | 8:34 a.m.
Sheriff Bill Young along with several dozen Metro and North Las Vegas Police officers will be sporting buzz cuts to support a local charity that helps children with disabilities.
The third annual "Baldy Bash" will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Ra nightclub at the Luxor.
The event is a collaboration between the Nevada Parents Encouraging Parents, law enforcement and emergency services.
Nevada PEP is a nonprofit organization that provides services, support and parent training for families of children with disabilities.
Participants are seeking sponsorships and will buzz their heads Saturday, donating the money they raise to Nevada PEP.
"It's for a great cause," Young said. "You can't take yourself too seriously."
For more information, or to sponsor a "Baldy," contact Alexia Conger at Nevada PEP at 388-8899.
