Book signing
Geoff Schumacher will sign copies of his book, "Sun, Sin & Suburbia: An Essential History of Modern Las Vegas," from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Ice House Lounge, 650 S. Main St. Admission is free. 383-4662.
Garage sale
Sun City Summerlin will hold its 15th annual "Garage Sale" from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Pinnacle Community Center, 2215 Thomas Ryan Blvd. Parking and admission are free. 966-1424.
Book signing

Celebration
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at a special celebration at 7 p.m. today at the East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave. Activities include music, dance, poetry and crafts displays. Admission is free. 229-1515.
Poets' corner

Ogbon Opon
Chief Fafore Akinlana and members of the Egbe Ifa Traditinoal African Society will lead a discussion on the philosphical and cultural achievements of the Yoruba, Dogon and Egyptian people in "Ogbon Opon -- the Knowledge Circle" at 3 p.m. Sunday in the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Blake lecture
Michael Blake, Academy Award-winning writer of "Dances With Wolves," will give a 90-minute talk, "Like a Running Dog: Books and Hollywood," at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. Admission is free. 455-7340.
'Guantanamera'
The Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, will present the 1995 movie "Guantanamera" at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Admission is $3. The film is not rated. 455-7340.
'One Community'
The movie "Fahrenheit 451" will be shown at the following libraries this week, as part of the monthlong program, "One Community, One Book," sponsored by the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District. Each screening is free:

The Cultural Affairs Division of the City of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services presents "Written in Stone -- Lewis Avenue Poetry Cafe Under the Stars," from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today near the Poets' Bridge in the Lewis Avenue Corridor at Lewis Avenue and Fourth Street. Acting classes
