The two Metro Police officers who shot and killed a 45-year-old Las Vegas man in his garage Tuesday are Gary Torsky, 31, who has been with the department for four years, and Joey Hernandez, 31, who has been on the force for two years, police said this morning.
Police said Torsky and Hernandez were called to Arcangelito Contreras' house near Robindale Road and Rainbow Boulevard to investigate a family disturbance.
When they arrived, they found Contreras holding a gun and sitting on the type of electric scooter used by disabled and elderly people, police said.
The officers told him to drop the gun but Contreras pointed it at the officers and they opened fire, killing him, police said.
A coroner's inquest will be scheduled to determine whether the officers were justified in their actions.
