Renaissance event
The Clark County Parks and Community Services and the Excalibur Hotel & Casino present the 11th annual "Age of Chivalry" Renaissance Festival from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10 per day general, $5 children 5-12, under 5 free. Weekend passes are $25 adults and teens, $15 children and seniors. 474-4000.
Hallmark writers
Hallmark greeting card writers Bill Gray and Molly Wigand will visit the following locations throughout Las Vegas to hear firsthand how their cards have impacted people's lives. Admission is free, but reservations are required. (800) 565-6617:

Elizabethan Festival
The District at Green Valley Ranch and the Arts Council of Henderson present an Elizabethan Festival from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the District. Admission is free, and the event features Shakespearean performers and musicians. A special combat demonstration will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday. 458-8855.
'One Community, One Book'
The following libraries will sponsor discussion groups to talk about the themes in Ray Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451" as part of the monthlong program, "One Community, One Book," sponsored by the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District. All events are free:

Storytelling festival
The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District will host "By the Light of the Moon," a storytelling festival, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday in the ampitheatre of the Rainbow Library, 3150 N. Buffalo Drive. Admission is free. Bring blankets or lawn chairs. 507-3711.
Simonson lecture
World-renowned mountaineer Eric Simonson will give a free lecture at 7 p.m. Wednesday at REI at the District, 2220 Village Walk Drive. Tickets are required. 896-7111.
'Poetry'
The Cultural Affairs Division of the City of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services presents "Written in Stone -- Lewis Avenue Poetry Cafe Under the Stars," from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday near the Poets' Bridge in the Lewis Avenue Corridor at Lewis Avenue and Fourth Street. 'Herodes'
The 1999 film "La Ley De Herodes" will be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. The film is rated R. Admission is $3. 455-7340.
Acting classes
Clark County Parks & Community Services is offering free acting classes from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. every Wednesday at Whitney Center, 5712 E. Missouri Ave. Pre-registration is requested. 455-7576.
Arts & crafts fair
The City of Las Vegas Derfelt Senior Citizens Center will host its 11th annual outdoor arts and crafts fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 3343 W. Washington Ave. Admission is free, and activities include quilt exhibits, silk flower arranging, hula dancing and face painting. Live music will be provided. 229-6601.
Family storytime
The North Las Vegas Library, 2300 Civic Center Drive, will offer a free Family Storytime at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Admission is free. 633-1070.
Fundraiser
The Scintas, the Platters, Ponder, Killian's Angels and the Crush will perform at "Quarters for Kids -- Comforting Those in Need of Comfort," a fundraiser for abused, neglected and needy children, from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Cox Pavilion. Admission is free, but a 25-cent donation is being requested. 400-2115.
Harvest festival
The Red Rock Canyon 10th annual Harvest Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center. Admission is free, and activities include demonstrations on wildland fire safety, search and rescue and Native American dancing. 515-5350.
'Northern Exposure'
Pardee Homes of Southern Nevada presents the 4th annual "Northern Exposure" 10K race and 2-mile fun run at 8:30 a.m. Saturday beginning and ending at Seastrand Park, at the corner of Camino Elorado and Centennial Parkway. Registration is $18 per person and $30 the day of the event. 633-2567.
Tai chi classes
