Letter: Leaders must be open to ideas
Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004 | 9:09 a.m.
Like a needle stuck in an old vinyl record, President Bush repeatedly harps that John Kerry flip-flops on the issues. The pitiful accusation clearly lacks substance, and is redolent of juvenile name-calling (or bad politics).
I reserve my respect and my vote for a man who, when confronted with changing conditions or new facts brought to light, has the fortitude to modify his position and adapt accordingly. Such a man has far greater strength of character than one who rushes to action on insufficient or inaccurate data, and then, stiff-necked and bullheaded, refuses to admit the enormity of his egregious mistakes.
