Henderson library to host candidates

The League of Women Voters and the Paseo Verde Library will host Meet Your Candidate from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway, with a focus on races affecting the Henderson area.

The event will offer candidates from all parties the opportunity to present information to voters. All Assembly, state Senate, County Commission, U.S. Senate and House candidates in races affecting Henderson have been invited.

Candidates will be available in an informal setting to answer questions, distribute information and mingle with voters.

Admission is free, and refreshments will be provided.

Fall Festival Carnival scheduled

The annual Fall Festival Carnival, presented by the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, will open at 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and at noon Saturday and Sunday at Fiesta Henderson, Lake Mead Parkway and U.S. 95.

The carnival will feature rides for all ages and food and games.

Tickets for carnival rides and food can be purchased at the event.

Church will host annual Autumnfest

Prince of Peace Catholic Church will hold its annual Autumnfest fundraiser at 6 p.m. Friday, noon Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday at the church, 5485 E. Charleston Blvd., to assist the church in building additional cultural and educational facilities.

The event will feature international food booths, entertainment, activities and games for all ages. Additionally, there will be a live auction at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Columbus Day Ball to help students

The Columbus Day Ball presented by the Augustus Society will begin with cocktails at 6 Saturday at Texas Station, followed by a dinner.

The event is an optional black-tie, and tax-deductible donations go directly to the scholarship fund.

The mission of the Augustus Society is to provide college scholarships to Italian-American students in Clark County with academic and/or athletic abilities.

After-school projects celebrated

The Lights on Afterschool event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza in Lorenzi Park, 3333 W. Washington Ave.

The free event is designed to celebrate after-school programs and their important role in the lives of children, families, and communities.

The event will feature entertainment by young people from various after-school programs, along with informational booths, activities for the entire family and food. Call 799-7080.
