Trial begins in shooting at Las Vegas 7-Eleven

One of the alleged members of the Rolling 60s gang who was involved in a massive federal indictment went on trial Monday on an unrelated charge in connection with a shooting earlier this year.
Leland "Lee Mac" Banks faces five felony counts related to a shooting in January at a 7-Eleven store at Sierra Vista Drive and Cambridge Street near the Boulevard mall.
On Monday lawyers gave opening arguments and prosecution witnesses testified as to what happened shortly after midnight on Jan. 6.
The manager of the store, Shawn Reed, said he heard what he thought were shots from a BB gun and went outside to investigate.
A bullet fired sniper-style from the top of an apartment building across the street hit the doorframe between Reed and Kenny "Stay High" Gilmore, identified by Reed as a drug dealer, missing both by inches, Reed said.
Other witnesses said Gilmore and Banks were feuding.
Banks and 21 other alleged Rolling 60s members were indicted last year on racketeering charges in an 88-count indictment related to violent crime and drug trafficking.
The first sentence in the case was handed down in August, when Ronnie "Ronnie O." Gibson pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 years in jail.
Five other gang members have also pleaded guilty; the others, including Banks, are tentatively scheduled to go to trial next year.
